THE GRAVENHOF CASTLE

The Gravenhof castle was built by the Baron Le Roy in 1649 and is located in the flemish part of Belgium, very close to Brussels. Formerly the castle was surrounded on all sides by water and access was via a drawbridge. In the 19th century the four corner towers were added to the castle. Today the castle is a hotel and restaurant, quite famous for wedding receptions, anniversaries or birthday parties. It is located in a beautiful parc Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket the front of the castle Photobucket a little river all around Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket the backside Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket and also some beautiful sculptures, unfortunately I don't know who did them. Although it was very cold a walk through this beautiful parc was worthwhile. It must be the ideal background for wedding pictures.

It is all just gorgeous! NOT a castle like you THINK of a castle though... with turrets and all... More like a giant of a mansion! What gorgeous grounds though! I do wish you had photographed the inside too... or did you not go in? I would have stopped to eat while I was there!

That is a beautiful castle, Gattina. Europe has so many lovely old historic buildings and churches and I love history. One day I'll get there to have a look at a few.

As usual, your photos are fantastic as well as your subject. Thanks. What a nice walk to be able to take! I just think I will walk to the nearest castle today. Oh, no, I can't do that. I don't even know of one. :D

What a special architecture, one could almost believe that all the parts of castle were built at the same time like that. Love the surroundings with the river. Very romantic, I'm sure!
