Yvoire is an old medieval city situated at the Lake of Geneva, being located at the tip of the Leman peninsula. This medieval town, ideally situated on the expanse separating the "little lake" from the "great lake", still possesses some of the essential elements of the fortifications of the 14th Century : the castle, doors, ramparts...
Known as a modest fishing village in the beginning of the century, Yvoire is now ranked as one of the International Laureates of Floral Decorations, and is a member of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of France. This medieval city celebrated its 700 years in 2006.
Yvoire received its first prize in the national competition for the best kept villages in 1959 and the rewards followed over the years. Now ranked as “Four Flowers”, the village represented France in 2002 at the European level and received the International Trophy for Landscape and Horticulture.
Yvoire is considered as the "Most Beautiful Villages of France" for the last 20 years. To which I fully agree ! The other villages or towns I had seen in this part of France looked rather neglected.
So I take you through the little cobbled streets for a sightseeing tour !
We ended our tour at the little habour before returning back home.

How lovely! Especially the stone buildings accented with red flows!
wow so picturesque!!!
So funny to find Yvoire here. I life exactly opposite on the Swiss side and taking a boat to visit Yvoire is a lovely day trip. Did you visit the wonderful gardens? I can spend hours there! And did you continue to visit Evian as well?
It is indeed very charming and well kept.
It is such a picturesque village, no wonder it has won so many awards.
What a wonderful village. We don't have buildings older that two hundred or so years. It's hard to to imagine buildings so old.
picturesque. and much prettier than the parts of Belgium we happened thru.
Beautiful old seaside town...I know I would love this place.
Very beautiful! I am dreaming of visiting this place some day!
I would LOVE to spend some time exploring this place. I love stone and old buildings with beautiful bright flowers and greenery. Very eye catching and comforting.
Effectivement ce village est très joli! Les maisons en pierre toutes fleuries sont très chouettes! Aujourd'hui j'étais à Carqueiranne. Et demain probablement je vais dormir à Aix chez méli car je dois la raccompagner très tard!
